Even though I might call it a 3 event weekend I guess EtU might only give it 1 3/4 events( 1 for fell race, 0.25 for night time park run and 0.5 for open fell orienteering) but still my first 3 event weekend for 6 years.  The first event being the fell race duly covered by Colin in an earlier blog.  My first proper fell race reminding me that fell races arn't just about up hilling but also include the dreaded down hilling bit where I do my impression of a demented Julian Clarey!!  Excellent, day, excellent company and a cracking pie and peas to finish.
The second event was  the last of the North West night series on Saturday night in Birkenhead, which was tame being in a country park with all of 35m of climb!  A lesser challenge then 2 weeks ago on Bigland in the snow.  I can't dwell on orienteering stuff as it upsets EtU.
The 3rd and final event being a northwest regional championship orienteering on Whitbarrow.  Very tricky terrain over limestone pavements with some crag climbing thown in for good measure, 386m of climb, very few paths and a heap of frustration in loosing contact with the map on a few occasions.
According to my Garmin I ran the fell race the fastest averaging 10.01m/km and the slowest being today's race running at 11.56m /km.  I know, I know pitifully slow but I did them all, had a great time in all in great company.  Life does not get much better than that.
